Lectures and Seminar on "Guilaila, World Stage Art Master " have successfully held at the Central Academy of Drama (Changping Campus). “iSTAN World Stage Artist Exhibition of Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss” was opened on November 22, over the same period also held a series of master lectures, academic seminars, and other theme activities. The international exhibition attracts many experts and scholars from domestic and foreign theatrical fields, and teachers, students, and the media come to visit. Between the precious stage design models, manuscripts and lectures, one can feel the artistic conception and personal charm from Ms. Gunilla.                            

November 22

“iSTAN World Stage Artist Exhibition of Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss” has grandly opened in the Central Theater Academy Exhibition Hall (Black and White Space). Mr. Tobias Biancone, Director General of the International Theater Association and President of the International Stage Art Network, presided over the opening ceremony. Mr. Mathias Lafolie, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Sweden in China, read out the speech by Alice Bah Kuhnke, Swedish Minister of Culture. Ms. Anna Lindstedt, Ambassador of Sweden to China, Professor Sun Daqing, Assistant Dean of the Central Academy of Drama, Professor Zhang Qingshan, Vice President of the International Stage Art Network, and Deputy Director of the Stage Art Department respectively gave their speeches. At last, Ms. Gunilla made a speech and thanked the organizers.

Among the guests attending the opening ceremony were Swedish artists and famous Chinese stage artists such as Mr. Xing Dalun, Mr. Miao Peiru, Professor Zhang Kangmei, Professor Liu Xinglin and Mr. Gao Guangjian, as well as representatives, teachers, and students from well-known theaters, troupes, and institutions in China.                  

Ms. Gunilla is not only the artist of on the level of Swedish treasure, but also the world-class stage artist. This exhibition is of vital importance for promoting development of stage art and cultural exchange of the world.

November 23 and 24

iSTAN held two theme lectures delivered by Ms. Gunilla in the exhibition hall and academic lecture hall respectively. In her lectures, Ms. Gunilla took her representative stage works as examples to illustrate her 70 years of work in art and stage art creation experience. Ms. Gunilla brought a very friendly and academic lecture to the audience. During the question time, lively conversation and active exchange of opinions brought the audience to a harmonious atmosphere.                                       

November 24

“iSTAN World Stage Artist Exhibition of Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss” academic seminar – "The Enlightenment from Gunilla – How Classics Become Classics" was successfully held in the Central Academy of Drama (Changping Campus) ladder classroom. The seminar was presided over by Professor Sun Daqing as an academic moderator. Guests included Swedish stage designer, playwright Mikael Mark Sylwan, Swedish theater expert Karin Castegren, iSTAN honorary member Xing Dalun, iSTAN board member Miao Peiru, Professor Zhang Kangmei, Professor Liu Xinglin and Professor Feng Dezhong from Stage Art department of the Central Academy of China. The guests conducted a deep dialog with Ms. Gunilla, exchanging and discussing views on the topic of classics and innovation in a harmonious academic atmosphere.

The opening ceremony of “iSTAN World Stage Artist Exhibition of Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss”, the lectures, and the seminar have got a big success. Ms. Gunilla said, "I am very grateful for this trip to China and for organizing my solo exhibition in the Central Academy of Drama. Everything just fascinated me. Before this trip, I had some understanding of China, but when I stood Here, I still feel extremely excited and surprised! "
